Geoffrey Hoffa is an National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) Certified Physician Assistant who graduated from the Arizona School of Health Sciences (A.T. Still University) with a Masters Degree in Physician Assistant Studies in 2000.  Prior to this, he attended Michigan State University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Natural Science in 1995, with a major in Zoology.   

A leader during his studies at the Arizona School of Health Sciences, was elected Judicial Chairman and served on the Student Government Association Executive Board, as well as other committees.

·        In addition to standard clinical rotations, he acquired a Cardiology rotation in Flagstaff and another Surgery rotation in the State of Michigan at Beaumont Hospital.  The rotation was significant in that it yielded broad surgical experience to attain a Special Recognition in Surgery awarded after separate surgical boarding by the NCCPA.

His first PA position was with East Valley Gastroenterology & Hepatology in Chandler, Arizona starting in early 2001. Working and learning in the out-patient clinic seeing consults and follow-up visits, he learned the management for Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, and managed the Hepatitis clinic, as well as the basics of evaluation and treatment of a broad spectrum of gastroenterology patients.

            In    2002, Mr. Hoffa transitioned in to Abdominal Solid Organ Transplant Surgery at Mayo Clinic in Arizona.  Working 60 to 120 hours per week, Mr. Hoffa became adept at performing first and second assist in surgery and first-call priorities in a busy service.  Since a Physician Assistant has no particular specialty limitation, the work spanned all disciplines of medicine and surgery that were performed by the Transplant Service. 

·       Effectively managed the patients of Liver, Kidney, and Pancreas Transplant Surgery, Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery, Transplant Nephrology, and Hepatology with particular acumen. 

·        Achieved the academic rank of Instructor in Medicine.

·        First Physician Assistant admitted to the American Society of Transplant Surgeons (ASTS), under new rules, as an Associate Member.

·       Appointed as the Associate Member Liaison to the Legislative Committee of ASTS. 

·        Elected to the Leadership Board of the Mayo Clinic PA/NP Society, and had been appointed to the Mayo Clinic Arizona School of Health Sciences Subcommittee.

·        Recognizing the need for experienced contracted Physician Assistants, Mr. Hoffa forms Hoffa Health Care, January 2008.

           In October, 2009 Mr. Hoffa was appointed by Arizona Governor Jan Brewer to the State's regulatory agency for physician assistants- the Arizona Regulatory Board of Physician Assistants (ARBoPA); term ending July 2013.

          In addition to aforementioned certifications, Mr. Hoffa is ACLS and BLS certified. He maintains an FAA Private Pilot Certificate and is Instrument Rated, enabling travel for remote work.        

          Mr. Hoffa is a Fellow of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA), Gastroenterology Physician Assistants (GIPA), and of the Arizona State Association of Physician Assistants (ASAPA) where he has served as Chairman of the Public Relations Committee. In addition to his commitment to his family, and work as a P.A., he remains politically active about professional issues, and has participated in lobbying programs on Capitol Hill with the AAPA. He is currently licensed as a Physician Assistant in Michigan, and Arizona.    

         Mr. Hoffa is an elected Delegate of  the ASAPA to the American Academy of Physician Assistants House of Delegates, a governing body of the AAPA.  

         Maintaining privileges at Banner Estrella Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona, he is pursuing further leadership and consultancy roles with frequent travel to Washington D.C. as well as other areas of the country.

         In addition to his professional roles, Mr. Hoffa dedicates time to his local community as the elected Treasurer and Member of the Tramonto Homeowners Association Executive Board, where he and his family reside.
